Was a quiet spot, within walking distance from town. The mountain view from the porch makes for the perfect Clarens experience. Had all the necessary amenities for our stay. Despite the cold, we were provided with ample options to keep us warm. Karel was helpful and made it easy to settle in.

Awesome

Position was perfect, a hop and a skip and you are at the square. The fireplace was a hit and welcoming warmth. We had an absolutely amazing time. The beds were comfy. The view of the mountain is amazing while you watch the sun rise and sip good coffee on the deck. Having the additional 'Apartment' for the additional guests was an added plus. Will be back!

We rented this property for 4 nights for a family getaway and a 50th birthday celebration. Having no clear idea of how Clarens works as a destination, we were slightly nervous as any number of small things could have gone wrong and put a dampener on the trip. We should not have been worried at all. As a host, Karel was unfailingly helpful and courteous, pointing us in the right direction for where to have the 50th dinner and giving us a lot of local insight into where to go. As for the property, it is perfect. It is one of those rare places where, as soon as you need something and wonder if there is one or where it is, you immediately find it. It was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Karel's attention to detail is first class. Concerned about the water quality? He's already had purified water delivered. Worried about load shedding? There are emergency LED lanterns in every room. Thinking our Durban-adjusted bodies would freeze solid during a free state winter? Heated blankets and heaters everywhere, along with a truly fantastic fireplace. And the location is as good as it gets. Everywhere was an easy walk - no more than 5 minutes to wherever you needed to go. If we come back to Clarens and want to stay self-catering, this will be our first and only choice.

Our stay at the 727 Church street apartment was very pleasant. Everything we needed (and more) was there; all clean, functional and working. Very convenient to have the car parking right next to the unit. In the evening, we enjoyed walking to the town centre and back for a good meal. (It is thát close.) The relatively late check-out time of 11:00 also suited us well.

Super accommodation, well laid out and designed to enjoy the beautiful views. Good facilities. Light airy bedrooms. Lovely enclosed large garden for the dogs too. Perfect holiday spot in a peaceful setting, just a short walk from town. As well as being close to hiking trails.
